The Power of ZA
World Design Capital 2014 Capetown
November 2013 – September 2014
Pidgin Perfect teamed up with arts producer Natalia Palombo, in an exciting collaboration with the British Council’s Connect ZA project, and Creative Scotland to deliver the project, ‘The Power of Film to Transform Lives and Communities: A Festival of African Storytelling, Film & Design’ – part of World Design Capital 2014 in Cape Town.
From Johannesburg to Cape Town the project engaged with some of the most talented Africans in the creative arts and design in South Africa’s 20th year of democracy, to explore and document, the power that creative practices across Film; Visual Art; the Performing Arts; and Architecture & City Making have in bridging divides and transforming culture in post apartheid society.
These explorations and discussions facilitated by Pidgin Perfect and Natalia Palombo, were opened up to greater participation through global Twitter conversations run in collaboration with Future Cape Town. The project provided the platform for an intense collective effort that saw the creation of a dynamic creative toolkit and online forum titled The Power of ZA.
