January – November 2017
Commissioned by Creative Scotland, Pidgin Perfect were invited to develop and deliver a series of practical discussions about what ‘placemaking’ really means, and the importance of culture in building the places people value most across Scotland.
With almost every town and regeneration scheme quoting placemaking as a core value of their project, we invited professional and community voices from Elgin, Greenock and Selkirk to join us for a morning of thoughtful, creative and critical conversation about the need to embed culture at the heart of strategic development.
These bite-sized breakfast events presented cultural producers and creative practitioners, who are using innovative models of working, to move placemaking out of the same old tired process and into new creative community hands.
A ‘placemaking surgery’ focused around local challenges and opportunities was followed by a panel discussion – all with the aim of creating outline actions for future plans and projects.
A delicious breakfast was, of course, served.
