About:
Pidgin Perfect were invited to create a workshop programme for the 2012 Pollokshaws Community Carnival that would encourage intergenerational learning in Pollokshaws.
Pidgin Perfect devised a series of story telling and animation workshops that would document the lives of the older generation in Pollokshaws and would create the basis for the development of a toolkit for animations that would educate school children about their local history in a fun and imaginative way.
Through conversation with elderly community members from Trust Sheltered Housing Pidgin Perfect developed a film script which followed the lives of two women, Agnes and Lena, living their lives in an ever changing Pollokshaws.
The script was then animated and filmed by local school children from Primary 5 at St. Conval's and Primary 6 at Tinto Primary School using the animation toolkits developed and designed by Pidgin Perfect. Each class was divided into smaller 'film units' comprising of a Director, Production Assistant, Camera Operators and Voice Actors, who then worked with Pidgin Perfect to film scenes from the script.
The stills and voice recordings taken by the children at both schools were then edited by Pidgin Perfect to make the short animation, 'I Belong To The Shaws', which was shown at the Pollokshaws Community Carnival as well as screenings at both Primary Schools and Trust Sheltered Housing.
