March – October 2014
Open Glasgow commissioned Pidgin Perfect to deliver a wide-ranging mapping project which focused on exploring the city through the eyes of enterprises, communities, and individuals.
Using a wide range of analogue and digital mapping tools we increased people’s confidence with digital resources which proved to be empowering for many participants and groups across the city.
Through citizen mapping workshops and mapping parties citizens shared their local knowledge and created an in-depth view of the city. The maps and data streams they produced were made open for anyone to use and better understand the city.
The publication of an open-source toolkit developed through the project has empowered individuals and groups in and beyond Glasgow to run similar events and create their own future maps.
